From the doorstep, the Lowland River Meadow Walk and the Upland Hill Walk are now open for guests to follow waymarkers and a mapped guide. Enjoy the natural landscape and wildlife.

An official opening and launch day was held at Lon Lodges at the end of March on a beautiful spring day. Laura Thomas and Russell Smith, representatives from Sustainability Tourism Powys came along to see how the Activity and Wildlife fund has helped to develop the 2 wildlife walks. Contributors to the project also came and enjoyed the Lowland Walk, including Richard Knight, local wildlife expert, Beth Knight who illustrated and designed the leaflets, Abi from Clwyd Powys Archaeological Trust, Welsh translator Mary Steele, Becky Ackill who helped with the children’s activity sheets and landscapers Robert Pugh and Carl Davies. Visit Wales representaive Kathryn Newton, Lynda Crunkhorn from Mid Wales Tourism and Alan Samuel from Rhayader 2000 were invited to see how wildlife tourism is an important factor in the local area.
